What I'm reading + NOTD pt. 83

Lymstock is a town with more than its share of shameful secrets - a town where even a sudden outbreak of anonymous hate-mail causes only a minor stir. But all that changes when one of the recipients, Mrs Symmington, commits suicide. Her final note said `I can't go on'. Only Miss Marple questions the coroner's verdict of suicide. Was this the work of a poison-pen? Or of a poisoner?

It this novel the crime investigates Miss. Marple, but while we're on a subject... did you watch the latest Murder on the orient express? I knew I wanted to go see it, although I knew I wouldn't like the actor who plays Hercule Poirot as much as I like David Suchet, because he is for me the perfect Poirot. But if I leave this aside, in my opinion something was off with the character of Poirot. There was the first scene and I thought, omg, Poirot is acting as if he is Sherlock Holmes, and there was a scene where he is running after a suspect and I don't remember Poirot ever running after a suspect. And there is a scene at the end where he is being so dramatic (we all know he likes to feel important and likes to talk but this felt different). I don't want to say too much, so that I don't spoil it for you, but if you saw it, what is your opinion?

The nail polish is from Catrice (discontinued) with a name After Eight. I like the chocolate After Eight and I also like this colour. It's a shimmery dark green nail polish.

Have a great day!

What I'm reading + NOTD pt. 75

Ten strangers, apparently with little in common, are lured to an island mansion off the coast of Devon by the mysterious U.N.Owen. Over dinner, a record begins to play, and the voice of an unseen host accuses each person of hiding a guilty secret. That evening, former reckless driver Tony Marston is found murdered by a deadly dose of cyanide. The tension escalates as the survivors realise the killer is not only among them but is preparing to strike again... and again.

And There Were None by Agatha Christie is a recent addition to her novel translated in Slovene and I see there are more waiting to be translated in our language, so I'm not done with Agatha Christie yet.

The nail polish is from Essence, an old Colour & go line. The name is reach peach and it's a rusty red colour. Perfect for autumn, it reminds me of autumn leaves. The application is very easy with almost every colour from this line and this was no exception.

Have a great day!

What I'm reading + NOTD pt. 66

The last novel of Agatha Christie that I reviewed on the blog was The Big Four and I said that I didn't like it very much. With The Hollow I felt that this is the story that I like and what I expect the novels of Agatha Christie to be.

This is the plot of The Hollow. Lucy Angkatell invited Hercule Poirot to lunch. To tease the great detective, her guests stage a mock murder beside the swimming pool. Unfortunately, the victim plays the scene for real. As his blood drips into the water, John Christow gasps one final word: `Henrietta'. In the confusion, a gun sinks to the bottom of the pool. Poirot's enquiries reveal a complex web of romantic attachments. It seems everyone in the drama is a suspect - and each a victim of love.

Nail polish is from Essence, from a limited edition with the name Snow White. It's a jelly red and it's a perfect summer colour.

Have a nice day!

What I'm reading + NOTD pt. 60

A couple of months back I said that I read everything there is translated in Slovene of Agatha Christie, well I guess I was wrong, because here is another book of hers and maybe I will find some others that I haven't read yet.

Here it is, The Big Four. A ruthless international cartel seeks world domination...Framed in the doorway of Poirot's bedroom stood an uninvited guest, coated from head to foot in dust. The man's gaunt face stared for a moment, then he swayed and fell. Who was he? Was he suffering from shock or just exhaustion? Above all, what was the significance of the figure 4, scribbled over and over again on a sheet of paper? Poirot finds himself plunged into a world of international intrigue, risking his life to uncover the truth about 'Number Four'.

Meh, I didn’t like this case very much. One of the worst in Poirot series, in my opinion. But I guess one must be the worst :)

The manicure is an upgrade from last time. I have a Shaka nail polish with the name Burlesque over the Bourjois I had the last time. This time I used the Catrice base coat because of the removal process. Shaka nail polish is just shimmer so I thought it would be easier this way. Here you can see just golden shimmer, but the shimmer is in pink liquid, so if I just put Shaka Nail polish on my nails I would have a beautiful rose gold colour, but I guess I would have to put at least three coats, so I will try this next time.

Have a great day!

Agatha Christie 1950's Omnibus and NOTD

Agatha Christie's imaginative crime novels and thrillers made her a household name from 1920s trough to her last books in the early 1970s. Best known as the creator of Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple, Agatha tirelessly provided her publisher with at least one book every year, and twenty of her contemporary crime novelswere to feature neither Poirot nor Marple. Instead a wide range of ingenious plots would be played out by a selection of amateur sleuths, professional detectives, young adventuresses or unwary bystanders caught up in unforeseen events. And the 1950's Omnibus is a collection of four novels of such sorts.

Designed to be read individually or as a set, this collection provides a fascinating window on a changing world.

1) THEY CAME TO BAGHDAD, 1951
An exotic adventure begins when a wounded British agent dies in the arms of a courageous young woman.

Nail polish: Miss Sporty Clubbing Colours number 314
An old nail polish, a dark blue, reminds me of ink.

2) DESTINATION UNKNOWN, 1954
In Casablanca a girl with nothing to live for is recruited for a suicide mission to find a missing scientist.

Nail polish: Miss Sporty Clubbing Colours number 314 + Essence colour&go 78 blue addicted
Now that I have peel off base coat from Catrice it's time for glitter. This is an old one from Essence that everyone was crazy about when this came out. It is indeed beautiful, but my brush is bad, so it's really difficult to apply it properly. The glitter is hexagonal shape in blue and green with blue small glitter.

3) ORDEAL BY INNOCENCE, 1958
When an innocent man imprisoned for murder dies behind bars, the real killer seeks to bury the evidence.

Nail polish: Miss Sporty Quick Dry 'n 1 min number 60
A classic warm red colour, again the application is not the easiest, because the polish is really old.

4) THE PALE HORSE, 1961
A priest's brutal death near a county inn reveals a recipe for witchcraft with a perilous twist of danger.

Nail polish: Miss Sporty Clubbing Colours number 313
I don't like this colour very much, but since I had a theme with nail polishes and the book I went with the flow and pick my last Miss Sporty nail polish.

Have a great day :)
