Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss Lipstick in 111 Kiss of Life

Here it is, after a really long time, a beauty related blog post. Rimmel recently launched in some of our drugstores (DM's) and there was some kind of contest on their Facebook site. If you wanted to try this new lipstick you had to sign up and then there were 100 winners that got a lipstick and then after a while they had to answer a questionnaire about said lipstick. And I was also among the lucky (hundred :) ) winners.

There were three shades that you could choose from and I picked a classic red one, 111 Kiss of Life. In the tube it looks like it's leaning towards cool side, but on my lips it looks warmer than in the tube.

I would say that it's a shade that would suit everyone. Here I compared it with lipliner from Essence, 10 Femme Fatale and with the new Matt Lip Artist from Catrice, 050 Fashion REDitorial. The colours are practically the same. (I tought that Fashion REDitorial would be brighter that the rest, this is why I bought it, I was wrong, there will be a review).

The texture is matte, even though it glides on the lips without any tugging, it feels like it isn't matte. But after a while I felt it on the lips and the feeling wasn't the best. So if you have really dry lips this won't be for you. But I have to say it's still more comfortable to wear than liquid lipsticks.

The longevity is not bad, it actually survived some of the eating, like ice cream. It wasn't perfect, but it still looked decent without touch ups. With greasy food the touch ups are a necessity.

The scent is very strong, but I can't describe it, it's like a artificial smell with a mix of fruity scent. Fortunately I didn't smell it once the lipstick was applied on the lips.

Oh how I don't like the close ups of my face. When I look in the mirror it looks like it could be a good picture and then I take the picture and it's just no, no it won't work and then I settle for the least horrible one.

Have a great day :)

What I'm reading + NOTD pt.37

“There was only one thing emptier than having lived without love, and that was having lived without pain.”

The Redeemer (original title Frelseren) is the fourth novel in the Harry Hole series, translated in Slovene.

It is a freezing December night and Christmas shoppers have gathered to listen to a carol concert. Then a shot rings out and one of the singers falls to the floor, dead. Detective Harry Hole and his team are called in to investigate but have little to work with - there is no immediate suspect, no weapon and no motive. But when the assassin discovers he's shot the wrong man, Harry finds his troubles have only just begun.

I just love Scandinavian crime novels. I have nothing else to say.

The nail polish is from Essie, and guess what, you can still get it :) It's the number 25, Funny Face. I'm pleasantly surprised how well it lasts on my nails, it's the second day and it has only minor chipping. The application was not a problem, two coats were enough, but the brush is very wide, so this could be a problem if you have narrow nails but is manageable.

Have a great day :)

What I'm reading + NOTD pt. 36

Jonasson's second novel, The Girl Who Saved the King of Sweden (original title Analfabeten som kunde räkna) is about an orphan from Soweto who by chance becomes involved in international politics.

Born in a Soweto shack in 1961, Nombeko was destined for a short, hard life. When she was run over by a drunken engineer her luck changed. Alive, but blamed for the accident, she was made to work for the engineer - who happened to be in charge of a project vital to South Africa's security. Nombeko was good at cleaning, but brilliant at understanding numbers. The drunk engineer wasn't - and made a big mistake. And now only Nombeko knows about it...

The title in English and in Slovene is completely different and when I translated the Swedish version into English it was something like this - An alphabet/illiterate who could count (I never trust google translate, but roughly it should be it). In this case is the Slovene version closer to the original. I'm not saying that strictly following the original title when translating is better, I just found it interesting how can be books titles different in different languages. Also, I'm wondering how much is lost with translation and how can translation influence the whole experience of reading.

The nail polish is from Essence's limited edition. It was last years summer LE Nauti Girl and the nail polish is Ahoy, boy! It's a dark blue creme. Two coats, no problem with application, and base coat is needed if you don't want to have blue nail afterwards.

Have a great day :)
