What I'm reading + NOTD pt. 47

If there is a sequel of a book that I read there is a great chance that I will read also the sequel. At least if I liked the first book. When I saw The Rosie Effect I knew I will read it, because I liked the first book The Rosie Project.

Forty-one-year-old geneticist Don Tillman had never had a second date before he met Rosie. Now, living in New York City, they have survived ten months and ten days of marriage, even if Don has had to sacrifice standardized meals and embrace unscheduled sex. But then Rosie drops the mother of all bombshells. And Don must prepare for the biggest challenge of his previously ordered life - while dodging deportation, prosecution and professional disgrace. Is Don Tillman ready to become the man he always dreamed of being? Or will he revert to his old ways and risk losing Rosie forever?

I found the first book really funny, this, not so much. My mother told me, the first one is better that this one. I do agree with her at some point. It's definitely less funny than the first one, but I perceived also some kind of sadness in the story. Like the problem with the lack of empathy with Don and the problems this could bring with the newborn child. And there are also regular problems that couples that are expecting a baby face. So I think this was a plus in the book. But I'll tell you this. I hope there will be no third book.

The nail polish from Essence and it's not discontinued, I repeat, it's not discontinued. It's My hula hoop from the Gel nail polish line. The application is not problematic, but since it's a lighter colour I found I have to be more careful like with the darker colours. If not, the application could be uneven. The colour is nice, a light pink on the cooler side.

Have a great day :)

What I'm reading + NOTD pt. 46

I won't lie, I there was a bit of satisfaction when I finished reading this book. It's certainly not the longest, but bringing a book with 750 pages home, having just a month to read it and not be sure if you will like it (although is on my reading list) it's certainly challenging. But as soon as I started reading it I just knew that I will be hooked and that it won't take me one month, but much less.

The Name of the Wind is the first book in The Kingkiller Chronicle series. The book is narrated in first person, the narrator is a young man who grows to be the most notorious magician his world has ever seen. From his childhood in a troupe of traveling players, to years spent as a near-feral orphan in a crime- ridden city, to his daringly brazen yet successful bid to enter a legendary school of magic, a powerful coming-of-age story of a magically gifted young man, told through his eyes.

If I would have to describe this book really quickly I would say that is a mix between Harry Potter and Game of Thrones. At least in my eyes. The second book is also translated in Slovene, so I can't wait to get a hold on it.

The nail polish is from Catrice, a discontinued one with the name Plum Play With Me. I have in mind this one as the one with the troublesome application, but having applied it now, I can say that the application is normal. The brush is easy to handle, nothing bad here. Here I have two coats, but maybe one would suffice.

Have a great day :)

What I'm reading + NOTD pt.45

Ferdinand Brun hasn't always been a grumpy old man. Many years ago, he was a grumpy "young" man. Now he d much rather spend time with his canine companion, Daisy, than any of his nosy neighbours. But as his behaviour becomes increasingly peculiar, his daughter grows concerned and begins to consider moving him into a retirement home. In order to maintain his freedom, Ferdinand must submit to an apartment inspection by his long time enemy, the iron-fisted concierge, Mrs. Suarez. Unfortunately, he s never tidied up a day in his life. His neighbours, precocious ten-year-old Juliette and vivacious ninety-two-year-old Beatrice, come to the rescue. And once he lets these two into his life, things will never be the same.

Out of Sorts (original title Meme dans les orties) reminds me in some ways to A Man Called Ove and The Elegance of the Hedgehog. but not so funny as Ove and not so original as Hedgehog, but it's a nice read that will have you occupied for a day or two.

The nail polish is an oldie from Essence (of course discontinued a long time ago) with the name Most wanted. And it's perfect for autumn, we could say that it's a perfect autumnal shade (as much as I love autumn, I hate the world autumnal, so read it with a sarcastic voice ;) ) It's brown but it’s leaning towards taupe. So I really like this colour. The application I don't like as much, because my brush is a little bit wonky, so I need to be extra careful when applying the nail polish, but it's manageable.

Have a nice day :)
